Sideways 6.-8.6.2019 @ Helsinki, Nordis
Featuring a line-up of the best national and international indie acts, paralleled by an elaborate range of exciting, mind-blowing and fun sideshows, Sideways Festival is a true haven of creativity and an absolute must-do for the music aficionado who loves to indulge in diverse food offerings, quality drinks and experiences that are not found everywhere else. Sideways is the best of what Helsinki has got to offer in three days!
We are located in the center of Helsinki, and Sideways is the only big music & arts festival in Helsinki area in the beginning Summer. Every year we present nearly 80 live acts plus entertaining sideshows from "animal karaoke" to trivia competitions and 80’s arcade games to drag shows.
Also the restaurant selection is superb – we’ve chosen some of our favorite street food vendors from Helsinki area.
Nowadays we are located at Nordis in Töölö district in Helsinki – including Eläintarha park areas and Helsinki Ice Hall’s surroundings. Main stages are located outdoors, and there are also three stages inside the Ice Hall – after the sunset the festival continues indoors until early morning.
Sideways is a cozy boutique festival – we’ve got plenty of space to chill and hang around without long queues or massive amount of people.
Below you’ll find some of the basic information of Sideways 2019. In case we’ve forgotten something important, feel free to send any questions you may have: email@example.com

Sideways’ accreditation form is now open. Please send your application by May 30th.
The Sideways festival site is mainly asphalt/concrete pavement. There is a wheelchair accessible platform close to the main stage (Sideways Stage) and Black Box. The platforms have limited capacities.
In addition to outdoor venues, part of Sideways’ programme is organized inside the Ice Hall. Every single indoor stage is accessible with a wheelchair, but routes to stages may differ from other festival goers. Everyone is still able to come and watch the Black Box concerts as well as performances in the Basement and in the 2nd floor of the Ice Hall.
The info stand can be found right after the entrance to the festival. We recommend that festival goers that use a wheelchair or people with other disabilities get a leaflet from the info stand, where, for example, the routes and accessible toilets are clearly pointed out.
Customers with wheelchairs and people with other disabilities, (f. ex. people who are visually impaired) need a ticket to the festival but their personal assistant can get in without a separate ticket. We recommend that you bring certificate that you need personal assistant.
There are accessible toilets in the toilet area. A sign will be located on the door of the accessible toilets, and it allows people with disabilities and toilet passes to pass the possible line to the toilet.
We are happy to answer any questions considering this matter: info@fullsteam.
We have great bar and restaurant selection available around festival site where you can enjoy cold drinks and delicious food such as burgers, falafels, Asian food and many other options (vegan food available in every food restaurant).
We have wide selection of Brooklyn Brewery's beers, Viinitie's wines, coctails, mocktails and other drinks available.
More information on our website's restaurant section.
You can bring one unopened max 0.5 litre plastic bottle of any non-alcoholic soft drink or a small carton juice box to the festival area. It’s also fine to bring with you an empty bottle for water refills – there are water points around the area. Please note that it is not allowed to bring any kind of alcoholic beverages to the festival area. You are also welcome to bring with you reasonably sized snacks such as bread, fruits, candies, crisps etc.
Merchandise stand available at festival site, located next to Sideways Arcade in Ice Hall's hallway. Unfortunately we don’t know yet which bands will bring t-shirts, hoodies, records, bags etc to Sideways.
Please note that it is forbidden to bring any alcoholic drinks, glass bottles, guns, knives (or similar tools), fireworks and other dangerous objects to the festival area. Umbrellas are not allowed as they block the view to stages. Also, please leave picnic chairs at home, there are benches and terraces in the area.
Needles to say, festival environment is not suitable place for pet animals. And yes, we are 18+ years festival (strict, no exceptions) so remember to book babysitter in advance.
Sideways wants to be as equal event as possible and we welcome everyone to the festival just as they are. We do not condone discrimination of any kind, for example towards gender, a specific ethnic group, skin colour or sexual orientation.
If you see or experience behaviour towards yourself, your friends or other festival goers that feels distressing, inappropriate or in some way is against the values of equality, please notify the nearest security person.
We hope everyone respects the other guests of our festival and treats others as they wish to be treated. Thank you for co-operation!
This year 55% of Sideways' music groups are "all male", and 45% percent include also other genders – with area program and sideshows the split is 50/50.
We recommend you to bring your own ear plugs, but you can also buy them in the festival area.
