Päiväkirjaklubi
Saturday
19:00 - 20:00Päiväkirjaklubi is a phenomenon that sells out halls all over Finland. Now the Päiväkirjaklubi is coming to Sideways' Royal Club! On the club's stage, four readers will hear authentic comments about what it was like to live as a Finnish teenager at the end of the last millennium. There will be identification, togetherness, laughter, embarrassment, sympathy and even charm.
In diary clubs, former teenagers, now grown-up self-aware grief-stricken people, have been sharing their writings with the public since 2014. In the clubs, not only diary entries but also love letters, school subjects and poems have been read. The evening always ends with the most embarrassing teenage poem battle, the winner of which is chosen by the audience. The more embarrassing, the better!
A book has also been published about the club's best texts (Eeva Vekki & Risto K. Järvinen: Päiväkirjaklubi. Nemo, 2019).
"Whenever I see Riitta, or I don't see Riitta these days anymore, however, when I know that she sees me, I pretend that I'm having a damn good time, so that she can see that I can manage without her."
Risto K. Järvinen 2 June 1981
